Jackie Sherman

Jackie took her first pole class in January of 2017 and fell in love. While her dance background dates back to toddlerhood, no other style connected with her at the same level or felt more viscerally rewarding than pole. She was hooked. Almost immediately, she threw herself into classes, taking as many as possible and cross-training with yoga and weightlifting. Jackie took a huge leap in 2018 and participated in her first ever competition (PSO Northeast) and placed second in her division. In 2019, Jackie was invited to join the Elite Teacher Training Program, an extensive teaching and assisting program offered here at Elite. Her goal is to share the strength, empowerment, and joy she has found through pole with all of her students and peers.

Jackie Sherman instructs the following:
  • Showcase Perf. Class: Beginner Pole
  • Every year we host a student showcase. We usually offer Beg through Adv performance groups as part of our showcases. These classes run for about 3 months prior to the showcase and are listed as Closed Classes. These classes are only open to students who have pre-registered for this class during our showcase sign up period. They are not open to drop-in students.

  • Chopper Conditioning & Prep (Lvl 1 & up!)
  • Are you ready to level up your inverts? Is nailing your chopper one of your New Year's Resolutions? This bonus series will give you the conditioning exercises both on and off the pole to help you build the strength and coordination needed for this classic pole move!

Open to level 1 and 2 students, class will consist of a high-energy warmup and conditioning appropriate for all levels, with options to challenge you at any point in your invert journey.

Recommended that you attend all 4 sessions, but not required.

  • Pole Level 2 - 3
  • This class is where we really start to work on your inverts! We will work on leg hangs, shoulder mount prep, Superman, and overhead pushing strength for things like handstands and butterfly. Tricks will require more advanced grip, and will involve increased challenges to your coordination and strength. We will also start to build basic combos, and strength training will focus on preparing you for aerial inverts.

When is it time to level up?
When you can easily enter all leg hangs (from a chopper) and have your butterfly on both sides. You should have a basic shoulder mount from the floor and be ready to start aerial choppers. If you meet all these requirements EXCEPT your shoulder mount, you may also attend our Level 2.5 and up classes!

  • Pole FLOW: Intermediate Level
  • Once you feel comfortable in Beginner Pole Flow, you are welcome to move up to Intermediate! This next level up will be faster-paced and more technical, with slightly more advanced tricks and a longer piece of choreography to learn within the class time. Knee pads and socks are required, heels strongly recommended.

  • Showcase Perf. Class: Intermediate Pole

  • Flexibility (All Levels)
  • Our flexibility classes focus on both active and passive flexibility. Open to all levels!

  • Open Pole & Aerial
  • This is an Open Pole & Aerial Practice time. There will be a guided warm up and an instructor available for spotting/questions, but no instruction.

  • Pole Level 1 (must have completed Intro level)
  • This level works to build the coordination and technique for more complicated skills. We will work on more advanced sits and climbs (forearm climb, side climb), knee holds like jasmine and martini, and get comfortable with more complicated and demanding spin tricks. We will work on building strength for our choppers and getting comfortable in basic inversions.

When is it time to level up?
When you have a strong forearm climb on both static and spin. You have a strong chair spin, and you can invert into and hold a bat comfortably. Your tucks should be strong, and you should be close to or able to do a chopper.
